Icelandair Can’t Get It Right

icelandair-planeWell, I’m on the last leg of my Stockholm trip, a six-hour flight on Icelandair. Followers of the Migrant Blogger know that Icelandair is not among my favorites, typically failing to get even the basics right. The trip home from Sweden has put everything in the airline’s favor. From Stockholm to Keflavik, I had an entire row to myself. From Keflavik to JFK, I have an empty seat next to me-not as good, but still plenty of room. So, how did Icelandair screw it up?

Stockholm: Part Boston, Part New York

copy-of-dsc03914Above ground, Stockholm reminds me of Boston, but beneath the surface, it is strictly New York. Now, you know I have a subway fetish, and Stockholm satisfied it. I took a ride on the public transportation today, and I was pretty impressed. There’s a nice mix of efficiency and design. This is probaby the most interesting subway system I’ve encountered.

More Foreign Hot Dogs

copy-of-dsc03900

You may remember my thoughts on the mustard when I got a hot dog (well, several) in Reykjavik over the summer. I got my first hot dog in Stockholm today, and I recognized the same cheese-like taste in the mustard. It must be a Scandinavian thing. However you measure it, my first hot dog in Sweden was an interesting experience.

On the road again

img00089I’ll be hitting the road again in a few days, with two major trips coming up. On Sunday night, I’ll be heading to Stockholm, Sweden (stopping over at Keflavik Airport in Iceland) for a short-burn, three-day trip. It’s a cool press trip. I’ll be looking at some “green” initiatives, from a travel perspective. I’ve never been to Sweeden, though this will be my second trip to Scandinavia this year (and ever). Then, I’ll be home for two days before heading out to Scotland for a week. I’ll be covering both for my weekly column in TraderDaily.com.

I’m pretty excited about getting out on the road again. I haven’t done any serious travel since heading out to Montreal in July, though I guess my August trip to Florida for Internext kinda counts, like my September trip to Washington, DC. However you add it all up, these are new destinations for me, and I’m psyched.

Yeah, it looks like I’ve been busy

I’ve had several new articles come out in the past 24 hours. But, they were written over the last two months. So, it looks like I’m much more productive than I really am. It turns out trader published a good chunk of the articles I submitted. So, I guess they won’t be weekly after all. Check out the following on TraderDaily.com:

Also, I have a new article out on Nelson Diaz’s $1 art auction “grand experiment.” You can check it out at DigitalJournal.com >>

Klaus K Review Available on TripAdvisor

Finally, my review of the Klaus K hotel is available on TripAdvisor.com. Again, I absolutely loved that hotel. The rooms were quite comfortable, and the design was unbeatable. Also, I completely dug the lawn chairs out front where I could write and smoke in piece. One night, I was treated to a small fight between two drunken Finns!
