NY Artists Rock Philly Porn Show
Posted by migrantblogger on August 3, 2008
While the rest of our was drinking, sleeping or Gawking at the Montauk Monster, a handful of New York artists crossed a river– several of them, actually– to exhibit at the HotMovies.com 100,000th movie party in Philadelphia. These painters, members of a group called the “Pornsaints,” sanctify porn stars through fine art. Pixie Pearl, Carmen Luvana, Sophia Lynn and Nico Elise were represented on canvas in oil, acrylic and mixed media for a crowd of more than 500 to enjoy.
Representing the Pornsaints were artists Julio Aguilera, Katelan Foisy and Jeff Faerber. They were joined by prominent adult film performers (and fellow New Yorkers) Ron Jeremy and Joanna Angel, the industry’s latest big name. In total, more than a dozen paintings adorned the walls of Philly’s Transit Night Club. Joining the works of Aguilera, Foisy and Faerber were several paintings by Pornsaints founder Francesco d’Isa, who was unable to attend.
Despite a burlesque show, a gameshow in which contestants trade pain for lap dances and an open bar until midnight, the Pornsaints art show attracted a considerable amount of traffic. The Hedgehog himself danced for a few minutes with Foisy before listening to her explain the nature of her paintings. Of course, publicity whore Ron Jeremy never said “No” to an autograph or photo opportunity with a fan. Jenaveve Jolie, a prominent (and smokin’) adult film star spent several minutes with artist Julio Aguilera, who explained the thinking behind his “Ladies of San Fernando Valley” series. Jolie is now thinking about participating in the project as well.
As this morning’s early hours waned, the Pornsaints and their companions at the HotMovies gala were just getting Philly warmed up. Finally, the overtly erotic is being accepted in fine art.
